Designing an Effective Workflow

“You are NOT the user!”

Paul Sherman

A simple quote, yet a powerful one.

This quote resonated with me because I’ve already tapped into UX Design concepts and principles without even knowing it!

Two years ago, I launched my personal website kayvickrelations.com. From the very beginning, I designed such website on the strength of creating a simplistic design that required minimum work for users, yet the message I wanted users to get was direct and clear. My site being a blogging site, business site for my resume revamp service and soon to be PR portfolio, I wanted to create a website that captured my love for writing and my passion for pursuing purpose in this life.

More specifically, I found creating light-boxes that articulated the resume step-by-step process difficult. Pictured, you will see the Resume Revamp Process lightbox. This was designed so that clients were familiar with the steps necessary for the resume revamp process as they are required to fill out a questionnaire. (See figure 2 for Resume Revamp lightbox.) When designing this website, I kept the users in mind, but I kept myself in mind too, as it relates to how I wanted the public to view the kayvickrelations brand.

Regardless, I find that the topics discussed in this course are concepts/methods I have already applied to my own website which makes the material being shared, easy to understand and more applicable to my personal business goals. I am taking everything in one at a time and thinking of creative ways to implement new concepts/methods into personal en-devours.

Special Thanks to my KSU UXD instructors: David Roll and Paul Sherman (course material) for making this course interesting and interactive as I learn best that way!
